Calling Out Cultural Lies - The Lie of "Church Shouldn't Speak Into Politics" | Sermon Audio
On October 6, 2024, Pastor Jon Delger continued the sermon series Calling Out Cultural Lies with a message based on Jeremiah 29:1-9. He addressed the common notion that Christians should avoid politics, emphasizing that believers are called to seek the welfare of the community in which God has placed them. Drawing from Jeremiah’s letter to the exiles in Babylon, Pastor Delger explained that Christians should be active participants in society, bringing God’s truth and love to bear on public issues. He encouraged the congregation to pray, vote, and even run for office if called to do so. The central idea was that engaging in politics is not just permissible but sometimes necessary for loving our neighbors and promoting justice.
