It Had To Be Said - Who Is The Greatest? | Sermon Audio
On July 28, 2024, Pastor Jon Delger delivered a sermon in the series "It Had To Be Said," focusing on Matthew 18:1-6. Pastor Jon explained that Jesus calls His disciples to become like children, to receive children, and to protect children. He elaborated that this refers to literal children as well as all believers, who are God's children.
He highlighted the importance of receiving children with gentleness and care, similar to how one would hold a baby in a receiving blanket, and extended this to welcoming and nurturing all believers, especially those who are vulnerable. Pastor Jon also warned against causing any of God's little ones to stumble, stressing that leading any believer astray is a severe offense.
Contrasting worldly values with Jesus’ teachings, Pastor Jon called the congregation to serve others humbly, to lift others up, and to embrace a lowly estate, exemplifying Christ’s selflessness and care for the vulnerable. He encouraged believers to run to the Father with trust and dependence, to be willing to admit when they are wrong, and to prioritize the protection and nurturing of children and all fellow Christians. Through these actions, Pastor Jon underscored the transformative power of humility and the profound responsibility of caring for God's children.
